In 1976 Abercrombie & Fitch sold Griffin & Howe to Bill Ward. Bill Ward and John Realmuto who had joined the company in 1958 continued to build the company from a new location at 589 Broadway in New York City. In 1987 Griffin & Howe moved to midtown Manhattan, and to the new headquarters’ location in Bernardsville, New Jersey. The present management came in in 1989. Another retail location in Greenwich, Connecticut was opened in 1999. The New Yok City retail store was closed in April 2003. The Griffin & Howe Shooting School, dating from from 1935, operates out of The Hudson Farm in Andover, New Jersey where a new Pro Shop will be opened in July of 2003. Sporting events and shoots are also available at The Hudson Farm.

Today the company still builds a limited number of the finest custom rifles for discriminating sportsmen the way they have for the past 80 years ago with the classic shape and proportion of the European walnut stock with cheek piece and hand rubbed oil finish, the Griffin & Howe quarter rib with standing bar and folding leaves… the Lyman 48 sight… the barrel band… the Griffin & Howe front sight… and all the other Griffin & Howe original features, that have been the hallmark of the company since the very beginning. Griffin & Howe are agents for James Purdey & Sons, Boss & Co and David McKay Brown. Griffin & Howe also offers an extensive line shotguns, built to their specifications by fine European makers.
